In Cape Town the Adderley street lights will be switched on by Mayor Helen Zille on Sunday the 2nd of December. With the lights on, the City’s summer holiday season will officially be launched.
Four new lights installations are added to the festive lights. Three displays dedicate to soccer and one on featuring Rugby World Cup’s Webb Ellis trophy. The four new panels add 4000 meters of rope light.
"The rope lighting consumes very little electricity and will not increase the overall energy consumption," says Public lighting spokesperson Charles Kadalie.
This Tuesday the lights will be inspected. The city will also announce which artist will perform at the 2nd of December.

I really appreciate the City of Cape Town administration's effort towards environmental sustainability.
I don't know any other city in South Africa that has shown such leadership in environmental innovation and application.
