Murder accused Najwa Petersen second bail application has been postponed in the Wynberg Regional Court because the prosecutor has fallen ill.
Petersen's defence opposed the postponement, saying it has financial implications for his client. Petersen, together with three men, are to go on trial next year for the murder of her entertainer husband, Taliep Petersen.
"I cannot take part in proceedings as the matter is too complex for me to take over,” says Prosecutor Nazlee Abdeljaoued.
According to Petersen's attorney, he wanted to complete his cross examination of the investigating officer on Monday. He says his client’s freedom is at stake and the postponement has a ripple effect.
The matter has been postponed for today (Tuesday).
The 6 December has been set out for argument and a ruling is expected on December 10 in this bail application.
