The Congress of South African Trade Unions has reacted to the alarming rate of accidents involving farm workers on the Western Cape.

The latest accident which took place last night on the N1 between Worcester and De Doorns left six farm workers dead follows a bus accident which occurred last Friday in Piketberg whereby eight people died.

It is believed the accident which occurred last night had 60 passengers at the back of the truck while there were no railings around the truck which could have protected the passengers.

“The number of lives being lost is far too high, at work, to work , and from, and something needs to be done about it,” says COSATU spokesperson Patrick Craven
