Department of Agriculture reacts to death of farmworkers

The Department of Agriculture and Government of the Western Cape has extended their deepest sympathies to the families and children of farm workers who have been killed in an accident near De Doorns last night.

Seven farm workers were killed when the truck that they were being transported overturned in De Doorns. 10 people were seriously injured and all the injured are in hospital

“They are all in hospital; some of them are in Eben Donges and the others in the Medi City Clinic both in Worcester,” says Minister of Agriculture Cobus Dowry

The Minister of Agriculture Cobus Dowry and Transport Minister of the Western Cape Marius Fransman visited the injured today (Wednesday).

“We have decided that we will come together next week with our two departments and discuss a way forward on this issue of the transportation of farm workers,” says Dowry.
