Thousands of farm workers will take to the streets tomorrow in rural towns across the country protesting against poor working, living, and safety conditions.
The protest follows two recent accidents whereby 18 farm workers were killed. The workers are stating that they live under conditions where there are a lack of schools, clinics and no justice support for them.
The farm workers union, Food and Allied Workers Union (FAWU) will also hand over memorandums to the various departments of labour, agriculture, justice, and trade and industry.
“The march will take place in Paarl as well as various provinces across the country,” says spokesperson for the Food and Allied Workers Union Domonique Swartz.
