The Independent Democrats has reacted to the allegations that the South African Rugby Union (SARU) will be suspending Springboks coach Jake White for remarks he put in his autobiography.
ID spokesperson on sports and recreation Haniff Hoosen reacted to the speculation saying that the SARU should not be vindictive and let White complete his duties by finishing his contract in taking the Springboks to the United Kingdom in what would be his farewell tour as Springbok coach.
“Freedom of speech is a constitutional right for all citizens of our country and acting against it would make SARU responsible for violating that right,” says Hoosen.
He said that SARU would do well to learn from the White’s candid and transparent approach.
