Most wanted Khayelitsha suspects arrested

Four out of five most sought after suspects in Khayelitsha were arrested during an operation at a residence in BM Block, Site B, on Friday evening.

The suspects are allegedly responsible for several crimes in the Khayelitsha area that varies from murder, attempted murder and armed robbery to hi-jacking.

It is said that their means of operation is to target delivery trucks, vehicles stopping at intersections and individuals walking to work.

Police spokesperson Inspector Bernadine Steyn said the four suspects - aged between 18 and 22 years - were arrested in connection with eight cases that occurred during October and November.

Police confiscated two firearms as well as ammunition on the scene.

They are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s court today on charges of murder, three charges of attempted murder, hi-jacking, two charges of armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearm.

The search for the fifth suspect still continues.
