The South African Football Players Union has sadly acknowledged the death of former African Wanderers coach Henry “Black Cat” Cele.

Cele, also known as Shaka Zulu to many South African television viewers, died in Durban’s St Augustine’s Hospital on Friday last week.

“He was a very good goalkeeper in his heyday and a very good coach to African Wanderers, where he managed to produce players like Siyabonga Nomvethe, Sibusiso Zuma and Phumulani Mkhize to name a few,” says SAFPU media officer, Elvis Sekgobela.

Elvis adds that South Africa lost a very good coach, who was going to be helpful for South Africa in preparation for the 2010 World Cup.

Cele succumbed to a chest infection.
