Property owners are asked to be patient after the objection process of the City of Cape Town’s property valuation procedure.
This comes after the city introduced a general evaluation roll and implemented it on the 1 July 2007 allowing property owners to launch objections against their properties if they were not satisfied with the values that were placed on them.
“We received in the region of 37 000 objections to these evaluations and are currently processing these objections. We want to assure the public that we are committed to resolving their objections as soon as possible,” says spokesperson of Directorate for the city, Christopher Gavor.
The city has contracted 13 external valuation firms to help speed up the resolution process.
Gavor urged the public be patient with them through this exercise as it will be resolved by the end of June 2008.
