Many homeless people and orphaned children will have a special Christmas this year as Cape Town Deputy Mayor, Grant Haskin will be handing over Christmas decorations to 20 NGO’s at the Civic Centre today.
These organisations are all involved in assisting street people and are active partners with the City in the “Smile-a-child” campaign and the “Foot in the Door Adult Street People” project.
“The city of Cape Town is pleased to be able to call all these organisations together to donate to them a whole bunch of Christmas decorations so that they are able to present their people with a very special Christmas celebration this year,” says Haskin.
“We have received these decorations as a donation from a company up in Johannesburg after hearing about the project we are busy with.
Some of the organisations which will be receiving the donations are Women in Need, The Ark, Ons Plek, No Limits and The Homestead.
