Police members raided a house on Tuesday morning in Sometsewu Street, Nyanga after conducting visible patrols in the area.

A blue VW polo was spotted in front of the house however when police approached the house, three occupants of another vehicle, a grey Toyota Corolla sped off.

“During the police search five sets of police uniforms, a hand-radio, a roadblock stop sign, two bullet proof vests and three illegal firearms seized from the house,” says Police spokesperson Bernadine Steyn.

Two men in their twenties who were arrested in the house face charges of the Illegal Possession of firearms and police issued uniforms.

“The three men who sped off in the grey Toyota Corolla were pulled over by other police members in the nearby vicinity and taken in for questioning,” says Steyn.

Police believe that the suspects might have been involved in the Armed Robbery in Khayelitsha.
