The Western Cape Education Department says that it expects no troubles with the marking of about 1 million scripts.

The scripts will be marked by approximately 2, 200 markers and 350 checkers.

“The markers are prepared to finish the process by the end of this week,” says Education spokesperson Gert Witbooi.

According to Witbooi education MEC Cameroon Dugmore visited the centre on Saturday and expressed his appreciation to the markers and officials who have to make sure that the province delivers an examination of integrity.

“The Examination Directorate of the WED began preparations for marking the papers about six months ago when it issued the first tenders for the enormous exercise,” says Witbooi.

“Strict security is in place at all times during the marking process to protect the integrity of the marking process and the results,” says Witbooi.

This year’s matric results will be announced at the end of this month during a ceremony at Leeuwenhof, the Premier’s official residence.
