Makhaya Ntini, South Africa's premier fast bowler will lead his invitation XI team on the field against the West Indies on Friday, and this forms part of his benefit year.

Ntini says this benefit year is like a payback for him after 10 years of playing cricket in this country. He says he was discovered herding cattle when growing up in the rural areas of the Eastern Cape.

Ntini has just been voted South Africa's best personality for 2007. A tribute like this, ahead of SA's great stars shows the ability of this athlete, according to SABC news.

Ntini is the third South African bowler to take over 300 test wickets, after Shaun Pollock and Alan Donald.

The West Indies cricket team arrived in South Africa after a compelling one-day series victory over Zimbabwe. The Windies will play one four-day match after the Pro20 international against South Africa, in preparation for the test series.

Yanda Pangabantu has been selected to replace Graeme Smith on Friday in the Makhaya Ntini Invitation XI to play the West Indies team at Buffalo Park. The 25 overs a side match is in aid of a benefit granted by the Border Cricket Board for fast bowler Ntini.

Smith withdrew from the match after picking up an unidentified virus during the recent tour of Pakistan.
