At about 12:50pm a white Golf4 Volkswagen belonging to a business owner caught fire in Victoria Road, Salt River causing pedestrians and onlookers to panic.
The owner of Pioneer Motor Spares and Automotive paints, Ayesha (declined to release her surname) stood helplessly weeping as her car was in flames.
“I don’t know what happened, someone came knocking at the door and told me my car is on fire,” she said.
Police personnel and fire rescue service were quick on the scene to extinguish the flames.
According to one of the fireman the flames could have been caused by either an electrical fault, the engine being old or if the owner of the car recently had it repaired and the job was not done properly.
An eyewitness that was walking from the bank says:” I was walking by and saw flames coming from the bottom of the car,” she told people standing around the car to call the fire department.
“Then it just burst into flames,” she exclaimed.
A relative of Ayesha said the car is parked on the same place every morning. “The next minute you see the smoke and it came out of no where and then there where flames.”
The owner of the car said that she is unhappy and she can’t believe it.
