A massive influx of holiday makers hit to the city’s shores this summer season, with the Western Cape experiencing its busiest tourism months.
The thousands of travellers visiting popular tourist attractions across the province, have brought foreign revenue into the city exceeding approximately R9-billion.
According to officials an estimated three million international and domestic visitors made their way to the region this year.
“If we break it down we are looking at about 1.1 million international arrivals and 1.9 million domestic trips to different cape destinations,” says acting CEO for Cape Town Routes Unlimited, Calvin Gillvellen.
However climate changes experienced throughout the province has put a damper on the number of tourists visiting this year.
“The weather has been playing around with us. The weather has affected tourism, but it hasn’t deterred people to enjoy themselves,” says Gillvellen.
Despite the weather changes a bumper summer season is still expected as tourism is bustling in the province.
