The National Secretary of the Young Communist League (YCL), Buti Manamela, together with the national leadership of the Education Alliance officially launched the Joe Slovo Right to Learn Campaign on Wednesday.
“The campaign was launched by means of visiting schools around the East Rand Area to make sure the culture of learning and teaching is upheld from the first day and that it also seeks to interact with the challenges that are facing educators, learners and parents,” says YCL National spokesperson, Castro Ngobese.
The campaign is aimed to assist learners and communities, and was established also in memory of their late chairperson, Joe Slovo.
“Across Gauteng, Free State Mpumalanga and North West, YCL structures visited schools to observe what issues are being faced by these schools,” says Ngobese.
He goes on to say that if there are any problems, they (the structures) will draw these problems to the attention of the Department of Education so that the problems can be addressed speedily.
“This is done so that the culture of learning and teaching is being attended to as school starts,” explains Ngobese
