Eskom says things are looking good

The national power utility Eskom says things are looking up as the last time load shedding that was necessary occurred on 4 February which means their power system has been doing well for the last two weeks.
The good conditions have been due to the industrial customers who have cut back by 10% on their normal electricity usage.
"Also we have had good weather conditions over Mpumalanga where most of our coal fire power stations are, and the warm dry weather has helped those power stations recover from the wet cold conditions of the past,” says Andrew Etzinger - Eskom’s Managing Director for Demand Side Management.
He says despite no loadshedding being expected, what poses as a risk is that rain has started to fall in the Mpumalanga region.
“What we are continuing to do is ask consumers to please use electricity sparingly as what we want to do is save enough electricity to be able to give power back to the mines which have reduced power and in so doing we would strengthen the economy,” says Etzinger.
