Ajax Cape Town and Supersport United will battle it out at the Super Stadium, in Pretoria, on Tuesday 4 March with kick off at 19h30.
“This game is a very important game for Ajax Cape Town. A win for either team could set them up to take the lead at the top of the table,” says Media and Communications officer at Ajax Cape Town, Mark Meyer.
He goes on to say that both teams will be going out to win and this game could provide Ajax with the advantage to take the championship credentials.
“With Supersport breathing down our necks, we have to ensure that we do the business on Tuesday night. Our title challenge is dependent on a good result. We aim to return to Cape Town with points under our belt,” adds Ajax Cape Town Captain, Hans Vonk.
Vonk describes the mood of the team as up beat and that there is an air of self belief in the dressing room. He explains that they are prepared for tough games on the road and the players know what is required of them.
Ajax will know what results are required of them from their remaining league games, by this time next week, to win the Premiership.
“We will take it one game at a time. Each game has its own set of challenges but we aim to play to our strengths. The team is playing as a unit and I believe that this is the foundation of our success. Players coming off the bench are eager to make an impression therefore presenting the technical team with a selection headache that is most welcome especially at this stage of the season,” says Ajax coach, Craig Rosslee.
Supersport United need the points
“We have to win tonight because we are five points behind them, so if we could win tonight we will just close the gap and if they win they will just go eight points away from us. So I think this is one of the most important games of the season for us,” says Supersport Captain, Ricardo Katza.
According to Katza they are looking forward to a positive result.
Supersport United is currently second on the log with Ajax Cape Town number one at the moment. This match could turn the table for Supersport or give Ajax a cushion to extend their lead.
“Training is going well, I am injured at the moment so I won’t be playing, but we are very confident and the team spirit is positive and everything looks good,” says Katza.
According to the centre back he will be replaced by Thabo September.
