The Paraffin Safety Association is calling all household energy consumers to support the “Paraffin Consumer Rights” Campaign.
The campaign will begin on World Consumer Rights Day Conference Day and will launch under the theme: “Consumer Rights and the Fight Against Poverty”, at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday (15 March 2008).
“We are calling on all household energy consumers to support the “Paraffin Consumer Rights” Campaign, which is going to be starting as of the 16 March and we will be continue with it until the 1st of June, when it’s our National Paraffin Safety day,” says Communications Co-ordinator Phumzile Nteyi.
They will be campaigning with the association and asking people to support their declaration of demands that was compiled by the communities, who use paraffin on a daily basis. They also want to see that they get signatures from those who support the campaign.
“The main aims of the campaign is to highlight the plight of the people using paraffin,” says Nteyi.
The use of paraffin is just as serious issue as HIV and AIDS according to PSA.
