The stage is set for the SAA Provincial 1-Day semi-finals. Pool A winners Eastern Province will host pools B’s second place and winners, Northerns in Port Elizabeth Gauteng Strikers will be at home to South Western Districts who are pool A runners-up.
Northerns who were beaten by KwaZulu-Natal in last year’s final will want to make amends when they take on the Jumbos. Skippered by the left-arm spinner, Aaron Phangiso, Northerns are confident that they will win this year.
“We are delighted that our young side has managed to reach the semi-final stage of the SAA 1-day competition. It is through the cricketing systems we have in our province that enables us to perform consistently at this level,” according to left-arm spinner, Aaron Phangiso.
He goes on to say that with determination and skills shown by the coach and the players, they will have all the confidence to go all the way.
Eastern province will host the Northerns at Sahara Oval St. Georges in Port Elizabeth and the Gauteng Strikers will meet South Western Districts at Liberty Life Wanderers in Johannesburg.
The SAA Provincial 1-day Challenge matches will be played on Saturday the 8th of March; all matches will begin at 10 am.
“We have the South African Cricket Awards that will be taking place in May and I think all the players will have a chance to display their talents and stay in contention for that highest honour,” says Moabi Litheko, CSA media officer.
