Ten to appear in court for murder

Ten suspects, aged between 25 and 40 years, will appear in the Athlone Magistrate's court today in connection with a Murder that occurred on Thursday evening in Nyanga.

“It is alleged that 4 men knocked and kicked at a door of a residents in Bristol Road, Browns farm. When the occupants opened the group ran away, who then were allegedly chased by several people with knifes and screwdrivers,” says police spokesperson Inspector Bernadine Steyn.

According to Steyn in an open field close to the corner of Eisleben and Lansdown Road in Philippi-East, one of the fleeing men was assaulted and stabbed in his face and body.

“A 19 – year - old Aviwe Qoba from Browns farm passed away on the scene. Shortly after the incident Police arrested 10 suspects near the scene,” she added.
