Former Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota is expected to address thousands of disgruntled ANC members in Port Elizabeth today.
A number of branches in the Amahlathi sub-region have indicated that they are willing to join the proposed splinter political party.
It is reported that a fleet of buses across the province will transport the members to the rally. This, despite an ANC provincial executive committee warning that it would expel any member of the party found campaigning for the proposed splinter political party.
Meanwhile, a secretary of the disbanded Dullah Omar region in the Cape Metropole, Mbulelo Ncedana, says they fully support Lekota. ANC dissidents in the Western Cape say they plan to consult with civil society movements to garner support for a national convention as called for by Lekota.
This follows a rally in Langa in Cape Town on Saturday where Lekota addressed ANC members and supporters.
