About 800 informal traders who formerly plied their trade in Green Point will move to the Foreshore from Sunday, October 19.The new site is located under the Foreshore bridges and next to the Artscape Theatre Centre and is known as the old Madam Zingara site.
Mansoor Mohamed, the City’s Executive Director for Economic, Social Development and Tourism said “the city is very that it is able to accommodate more than double the amount of informal traders that were accommodated on Green Point, we are expecting up to 800 informal traders on the new site and we are happy that the new site will provide lots of new opportunity for the people of Cape Town.”
Mohamed also says that the city hopes that this new opportunity will help people trade and make an income they would have never made otherwise.
