The South African Football Players Union [SAFPU] says the cowardly rules and demands by the South African Football Association as it relate to the Appeal cases for players.
It is despicable that SAFA demands a player to pay R20 000 for an appeal in the midst of the super-exploitation and below poverty line salaries given to the majority of soccer players.
SAFPU Media Liaison Elvis Sekgobela Officer says those entrusted with the responsibility of managing our soccer are out of touch with the plights and challenges faced by the players.
Sekgobela says If SAFA fails to adhere to our demand; we will mobilize players in protest against this injustice by these soccer administrators.
‘’It should be noted that SAFA is not in business of money laundering and accumulation, but they are in business of football development.”
He added that, SAFA’s action is an indication that football has been hijacked by a largely capitalist and parasitic agenda.
As the union we will fight tooth and nail to ensure that the peoples game is not undermined by such cowardly actions and collective players interest are important than any individual in the echelons of SAFA.
