Yesterday morning at about quarter-past eleven a mini-bus taxi transporting thirteen people, travelling towards Cape Town swerved off the road on the N7 near to the Spes Bona crossing. The taxi collided against a large cement block which was situated between the road and a little stream.

Spokesperson for the SAPS Billy Jones says “the vehicle did not overturn but three people were fatally injured and the other occupants seriously injured, allegedly because of the result of the impact. No other vehicles were involved.”

The ten injured people were taken to hospital in the surrounding area and police are currently still to identify the three deceased people who passed away on the scene. Jones says “we can confirm an elderly gentleman, a young boy between the age of ten and fifteen years old and a young female in her early twenties.”

An investigation is still underway.
