Luke Watson believes reports that he had attacked Afrikaners and wanted to vomit on the Springbok jersey are meant to divert attention away from transformation.
The controversial Western Province rugby loose forward told a newspaper, through his father Cheeky Watson, that the remarks were made during a private conversation and illegally taped.
The tape was then distributed and the media took them out of context. Watson Junior says he has already contacted his legal team.
He says these attacks are meant to divert debate from the real issues, such as transformation, unity and development in rugby.
Meanwhile the South African Rugby Union wants to determine the accuracy of reports and therefore an official has been appointed to investigate Watson’s controversial statements.
