The City of Cape Town’s Sport and Recreation Department will host a Recreation Festival tomorrow at the Turfhall Sports Complex in Athlone.
The City hopes to attract children to the festival as the aim is to encourage kids to get more active in sports.
Noor Nacerodien from the City of Cape Town’s Sports and Recreation Department says The Sport & Recreation Department called on all their partners to showcase their own sport and recreational activities.
The City hopes this initiative will encourage other sport and recreation codes to increase their membership and that more children will become active in different sporting codes.
“We’re having various activities to get the kids exposed to, other than the normal mainstream sports. So in other words we going to have touch rugby, we going to have mini cricket and roller-blading.”
The festival will run from 10 in the morning until 4 in the morning.
