A record number of 27 thousand people took part in the Big Walk yesterday was a huge success, this is according to its Head organiser from the City of Cape Town Alec Lenferna.

This event was also a fundraiser for charities such as the Steenberg Foundation and the Breast Cancer Fundraisers.

This 105 year old annual event is known to be the second oldest of its kind after Tour –De France.

Alec said this event was a major success despite smaller problems like the heat but they did deal with issues related with it.

Alec said they raised some almost one million rand for charity.

“We hope this will go better for next year”
