On Sunday Afternoon, the body of 72 year old Elna Burger was discovered by her neighbour. Burger was found lying in her shower in her farm house in Montagu.

“The deceased was found in the shower of her house on a farm outside Montagu. She had no open wounds visible and an autopsy was conducted last night. The preliminary autopsy report suggests that her neck was broken,” said Police spokesperson Inspector Bernadine Steyn.

Once police arrived at the scene, they found that the windows to the main bedroom were broken. The deceased’s cellular phone as well as Mazda Etude was stolen. It was not until the early hours of this morning that the cell phone and stolen vehicle were found abandoned on the Barrydale/Montagu Road, about 15km from Burger’s farm.

The Montagu Police have requested the assistance of the public in tracing 17 year old Barnard Braaf. Police say that he could possibly assist in a Murder and theft investigation.
Steyn says that the suspect is still at large and urges anyone with information to contact the Investigating Officer, Inspector Inus van Huyssteen at the Montagu Police station on 023-614 8300.
