City to impose fine to those tossing cigarettes from car windows

Due of the upcoming fire season, the City of Cape Town has issued a warning to those drives who will be caught throwing burning cigarette filters out of car windows.

The City will fine those who break the law R1000 and City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue station Danzel Ramedies said this habit has caused hundreds of fires.

Ramedies said the city has experienced quite a number of fires which a number started relatively small.

“Because of the climatic conditions, strong winds and dry vegetation and the careless of the public when disposing cigarettes, we as the city we have implemented the by-law”

Ramedies said due to these reasons the city is fining these people
