The City of Cape Town has moved swiftly to implement a recent Cape High Court ruling and have evicted people from Council-owned property where drugs were being illegally traded.
Spokesperson Glen Kleinsmith says they instructed the Sheriff to demolish structures and evict those in the structures on the property.
According to Kleinsmith the first group was removed from the Retreat area and the second group was from Washington Street in Langa. He says “this is a positive sign for the city, to show that we are really serious in dealing with drug dealers active on council property.”
