On Saturday evening NSRI Plettenberg Bay were alerted by local resident Marianne du Plessis reporting 3 people being swept out to sea at The Waves, Lubners Beach, Keurbooms.
Spokesperson for the NSRI Craig Lambinon said "NSRI Plettenberg Bay volunteers launched a rescue craft and while two NSRI station doctors responded directly to the scene and Baycare Ambulance Services also responded.”According to Lambinon "It appears that a man and women from Kimberley and from Bloemfontein had been swimming when they were caught in a rip-current and both were being swept out to sea through the breakers in the surf line.
The ladies boyfriend swam out and managed to rescue her and he brought her safely and a group of people who were having a braai managed to save the man.”
