Yesterday afternoon NSRI St Francis Bay was called out to Main Beach, St Francis Bay, following reports of a drowning in progress.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said “on arrival NSRI volunteers on the beach spotted a man floating in the surf line and they guided our NSRI rescue craft to the man who was taken aboard our rescue craft but was found to be not breathing and pulse less.”
CPR was immediately started by the NSRI crew aboard the rescue craft while the rescue craft made its way to the NSRI rescue station where they were met by our NSRI station doctor, Dr. Jean Malan, and by Private Care Ambulance Services, and CPR continued. After all efforts to resuscitate the man were exhausted, he was declared dead, said Lambinon
There is a police investigation into what happened to the man.
