Policeman gunned down in a robbery

On Sunday members of the Harare Police responded to a complaint of a Robbery in progress at the Score Supermarket in Harare, Khayelitsha. Where three armed male suspects allegedly robbed the staff of R6000-cash and cellular phones

Senior Superintendent Billy Jones says the police members arrived at the scene as the alleged robbers came out of the shop. There was an exchange of fire between the suspects and the police members.

“A 27 year old Constable based at Harare SAPS was fatally wounded in his chest and passed away on the scene. His partner, a Reservist-Constable sustained a bullet wound to his left upper-leg. He is currently in serious, but stable condition in a nearby hospital.”

One of the suspects’ particulars still unknown and was fatally wounded in his head and passed away on the scene. We have seized a 9mm firearm found in his possession. The other two unknown male suspects fled the scene on foot and are currently still at large, says Jones.

“We have launched a search for the suspects and opened a case-docket of Murder, Attempted Murder and Armed Robbery for investigation.”
