COSATU is exceptionally proud that later this evening its General Secretary, Zwelinzima Vavi, is being presented with the Pan African Lifetime Achievement Award by the TransAfrica Forum, at its Progressive Vision in Action benefit gala at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill in Washington DC.

“This is a forum of some of the leading African American personalities, which will be headed by Danny Glover the actor and it makes awards like this of exceptional significance,” said COSATU spokesperson Patrick Craven.

Craven also said “we think that it is a great honour and just for Zwelinzima Vavi as an individual but for the entire South Africa and South African trade union movement for their contribution into the liberation struggle of the people of South Africa, that has been an example to people around the world”

Craven also said that COSATU is very, very pleased that this has been recognised is by such an important institution in the United States.
