The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation department have urged residents of Scarborough, Kommetjie, Noordhoek, Hout Bay and Llandudno to use water sparingly due to an excessive draw in the reservoirs.

This means the water consumption has increased at a high rate.

Farouk Robertson, Communications Officer for the department, said this is a huge concern.

“In general, we’d also like to urge the residents of the city of Cape Town, water consumers, just to use water sparingly at all times because I know that we are experiencing these high temperatures and it is causing a bit of discomfort.”

Robertson said however this does not imply that the water consumption has to go up excessively.

“The City is doing its utmost to provide a sustainable quality water supply to its residents and we would like to maintain this status.”
