Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma will depart for Zimbabwe for the inauguration of MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara as Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister respectively.
Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said former president Thabo Mbeki will also attend the ceremony.
The swearing ceremony follows the decisions taken at the recent SADC summit held in Pretoria. Mamoepa said that South Africa “as the rest of the countries in the SADC region stands ready to assist the people of Zimbabwe”.
“As they embark on the difficult path of reconstruction and development, economic recovery and national reconciliation” said Mamoepa.
President Kgalema Motlanthe is expected to visit Zimbabwe too, on Friday to witness the swearing in of cabinet members of Zimbabwe’s “inclusive government”
