The Independent Electoral Commission has urged all eligible voters to make use of the last day of its weekend voter registration drive, to make sure that they are able to casts their ballot in the upcoming elections.
IEC Chief Electoral Officer, Pansy Tlakula says they have just over 21 million registered voters on the roll but hope to have at least a million more by the time the voters’ roll closes.
he IEC says it experienced a few challenges at some of the voting stations yesterday.
In KwaZulu Natal rain delayed the opening of some stations on the South Coast while at a station in Zeerust protesters attempted to stop people from entering voting stations.
In Moutse Limpopo there were reports of intimidation against IEC staff at six stations.
