Two Oceans Marathon

Almost 19-thousand runners are pounding the roads of the Cape Peninsula in the 40th Two Oceans Marathon, which got special permission to use the closed Chapman’s Peak Drive this year.

No less than a record 12-thousand people have entered for the half-marathon, while six-thousand-800 ultra fit runners are taking on the ultra marathon’s 56-kilometres.

All ten male gold medalists from last year are competing in the ultra,meanwhile, this year’s Two Oceans ultra marathon was won this morning by John Wachira from Central Gauteng in a time of three-hours-10-minutes-and-06 seconds. Marco Mambo of Zimbabwe, who was trying to win the gruelling race for a fourth time, was second, less than a minute behind Wachira. Mapisela Ntlotsoeu was third.
