Cape Town Disaster Management Services says flooding has been reported in a number of informal settlements as heavy rain and strong winds lash Cape Town.
Disaster Management teams are monitoring the situation in informal settlements and traffic authorities have urged motorists to use caution while driving.
Gale force winds of up to 70 kilometres per hour and swells of up to nine metres are expected to wreak havoc this weekend.
The South African Weather Service say at least a 100 mm of rain is expected to fall today.
