The parents of a 13-month-old boy are facing a charge of child neglect, after the baby died on the steps of their home.
SAPS spokesperson Inspector Ian Bennett said it was revealed that the mother who had not been staying at the house for the past month had returned on to ask her estranged husband for money for milk and nappies and the father refused to allow her into the house.
“The mother for reason’s unknown to us sat outside of the house for the whole evening on Saturday during the storm and by 4-o-clock the Sunday morning when officers arrived they found that the child had passed away,” said Bennett
There has been an investigation docket opened and according to police they are waiting on an autopsy report in order to confirm the cause of death.
