National Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa, made the announcement yesterday.

According to an issued statement, Petros says: “As an intelligence operative Comm Dramat led investigations that had a national bearing such as anti terrorism in the 1990s”. Petros is confident that Commissioner Dramat will “take the new unit to great heights”. Previously Dramat was Provincial Head of Crime Intelligence in the Western Cape.

Petros describes Dramat as being an “unassuming, dedicated and hardworking strategist”. He says that even though it is a loss for the provincial SAPS, he is pleased about the appointment, saying that Dramat will contribute greatly to the fight against crime.
