Police are requesting that anyone with any information about the robbery that took place on Sunday please come forth.
SAPS spokesperson Captain Anneke van der Vyver said police members were driving in Site C, when they saw a young man being robbed by three suspects at gunpoint.
It is believed that the suspects removed the victim’s wallet at gunpoint and when he requested that the wallet be given back to him, the suspects began shooting at the victim.
“The suspects fired several shots towards the vehicle driven by the police members, hitting the vehicle on its left front fender and passenger door. The members returned fire, fatally wounding two of the suspects. The third suspect managed to escape,” said van der Vyver
“The victim, 25 years of age, was taken to Hospital as he had been injured in his left thigh. He remained in hospital and his condition is stable. The police members were not injured during the shoot-out,” said van der Vyver
Anyone with information regarding the incident or who can assist the police in tracking the third suspect is requested to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Gladstone Kasper on 079 880 9833 or on 021 360 2340 during office hours.
