Yesterday three men were detained in connection with the kidnapping, hijacking and murder case after the body of a male was found near a burning truck in the area of Eendekuil.
Captain Bernadine Steyn says the 68 year old male who was the second occupant in the truck is still missing.
The three males were arrested at three different butcheries in Ottery, Lotus River and Athlone Industrial and a total of about 250 sheep carcasses were confiscated. This was about half of the total load, says captain Steyn.
The suspects will appear in court soon. At this stage they are only facing a charge of possession of alleged stolen good, she added.
The police are requesting the assistance of the public in finding Willem Joseph, who was the second occupant in the truck.
Anyone with information can contact the Investigating Officer, Superintendent Mike Barkhuizen on 021 918 3512 / 918 3449.
