There was a tense confrontation between traffic officials and taxi drivers in Mfuleni today and police rushed to the sight to observe the situation.
There are allegations that a taxi damaged a traffic official’s vehicle as they were patrolling the area by crashing into it.
The driver was stopped by officials and got out of the taxi and escaped because he did not have a valid driver’s license.
Police confiscated the taxi and taxi owners and drivers then confronted the police and demanded their taxi be returned.
It has been reported that some of the taxi operators have been arrested.
