The application process for the 2010 FIFA World Cup volunteer programme is underway.
15 000 volunteers are needed for the event, and will be selected from the country, the rest of Africa and abroad.
LOC South Africa Chief Executive Officer, Danny Jordaan says the programme is an “excellent way to get involved in South Africa and Africa’s once in a life time opportunity of hosting the world’s biggest sporting event”.
He added that it is in fact, the volunteers that ensure the smooth running of the tournament.
Anyone aged 18 or older, or who is turning 18 on 1 March 2010 can apply to volunteer. Volunteers must also have an excellent command of English.
The application form is available on FIFA.com at www.FIFA.com/volunteers2010. Alternatively, call the volunteer hotline on 0800 52 52 52.
