Trade union UASA, an affiliate of The Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA), says that greater arrangement and consistency between different levels of government should extensively improve Service Delivery.

The union made the statement at a stage when service levels are deteriorating and protest action by ordinary citizens are reaching alarming levels.

Koos Bezuidenhout, CEO of UASA says it is unfair that ordinary local government employees should criticism while senior authorities were main cause of the problems.

“It is unfair that ordinary local government employees should suffer the consequences of negative criticism while the cause of the problem clearly lies with a lack of political leadership and high ranking officials who lack accountability” he said.

He urged the leadership of the Independent Municipal an Allied Trade Union (IMATU), another FEDUSA affiliate organising in local government, to act as a catalyst in addressing the issues of Service Delivery at local government.
