Police are out in full force and have warned the protesters that violence or trashing of streets would not be tolerated.
Ealier this week, the streets were trashed and non-striking employees and members of the public were intimidated.
However, today’s marches were reported as more disciplined and controllable.
In Cape Town members of Samwu and Imatu gathered near the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and from there they marched to the City centre, where they met with other members.
At noon they marched to the Civic centre singing the song, ‘SALGA will never again’ waiting for the city manager to address them.
Unions are demanding a 15 percent wage increase and employers are only offering 11.5 percent from July 01 and 1.5 percent from January 2010.
The two parties will get back to negotiations tomorrow, till then the strike continues.
