Residents marched to Sir Lowry’s police station and thrown stones at police vehicles, claiming that police must release the suspectes into their own hands.

Police used rubber bullets to disperse the crowd and seven people were hospitalised due to the injuries they sustained from the rubber bullets, said Constable Suzan Janjties.

Police arrested five men on the N2 Road on Tuesday for assaulting and kidnapping one man.

“The suspects forced the victim in a maroon VW Golf vehicle and speed off onto the N2 towards Cape Town”, said Janjties.

Police arrested the five suspects on the N2.

Suspects were taken to the Sir Lowry’s police station.

The victim was taken to Somerset hospital with bad injuries.

The suspects will appear today in Somerset Magistrate court facing charges of assault and attempted murder.
