Six people were arrested for dagga dealing and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The suspects were arrested yesterday afternoon by two police officers when they noticed a suspicious looking vehicle with two occupants driving passed them in Hlathi Street, Lwandle, while on patrol.
The black VW Polo stopped, the passenger got out and ran to an open field, the Constable pursued on foot and apprehended him.
Captain Bernadine Steyn says the first suspect 17 year-old-male was searched during which nine parcels of Dagga were found in his possession with an estimated street value of about R540-00.
“The suspect was arrested on the spot,” she said.
“The second suspect, a 38 year-old male, was arrested for reckless and negligent driving. After the passenger got out of the vehicle after he sped off in the Polo towards Chris Nissan Park,” she added
She said a follow-up investigation led members to a house in Asanda Village in Strand.
The house was searched during which 25 kg of Dagga with an estimated street value of about R13 000-00, cash and a firearm were confiscated and four more suspects were arrested.
All six suspects are expected to appear in the Strand Magistrates’ court soon.
